Attention
Volunteers at Emerald North State School.
It has come to our attention a requirement in Legislation
regarding volunteers working in schools.
The Legislation requires that a person volunteering
at a school that has a childcare centre as part of its environment, must have a
Blue Card unless that person has a child using the services of that centre. It
is also necessary if the school supports Children in Care.
This decision is in line with the legislation
Schedule 1, Parts 1, Section 3 for Schools and Section 4 and 4A for Childcare
and children in care.
As Emerald North State School has a coded Early
Childhood Centre within its environs, and we have Children in Care, we now
require our volunteers who don’t have children in the ECC to hold a current Blue
Card.
Volunteers must carry the Blue Card with them
whenever they volunteer at the school.
You can apply online. A Blue Card for a volunteer
is free.
