Instrumental Music Program - Year 4 to 6

Emerald North State School currently has an Instrumental Music Program available for students in Years 4 to 6.

The aims of the program are:

  • to provide the opportunity for students to learn a musical instrument during group instruction and band situations;
  • to provide the opportunity for students to develop their musical abilities while learning concentration, discipline, social skills and responsibility as members of an ensemble;
  • to provide an enriching dimension to enhance the existing classroom curriculum; and
  • to encourage both group and solo performances.

Tuition is provided for the following instruments:

  • Woodwind - flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone and tenor saxophone;
  • Brass - trumpet, trombone, French horn and euphonium;
  • Percussion - glockenspiel, snare drum, timpani, bass drum and auxiliary percussion such as cymbals and triangles.
